Tower Drill grows from a course into a practice system.
The first version taught the building blocks and graded spoken readbacks. Version 2.0 closes the rest of the loop: learn the sound without pressure, practice, review what you actually said, target the miss, connect the calls into a flight, and check your coverage.
“What would help a US student pilot sound more prepared on the very next lesson?” Every new mode is expected to answer that clearly.
- Listen & ShadowHear the cadence and repeat the call without scoring. This is the gentlest entry point for new users and a useful ear warm-up for everyone.
- Tape ReviewReplay recent transmissions with the recognized transcript and expected response, all stored locally on the device.
- Practice My MissesCreate a short adaptive session from failed attempts and weak radio-skill categories instead of repeating an entire lesson.
- Taxi TrainerBuild taxi routes in order and identify the runway crossings and hold-short instructions that need explicit protection.
- Flight DayChoose an operation, review weather and airport-status sources, verify frequencies, inspect the airport diagram, and rehearse the connected call sequence.
- ACS Readiness and Radio CheckrideSee practice coverage across common Private Pilot ACS radio areas, answer short knowledge checks, and run a no-hints spoken test.
- A calmer Practice screenModes are grouped by purpose: learn without pressure, build a skill, or test yourself. The app asks what you need instead of showing one long feature list.
- Lesson briefings are backPaged explanations prepare you before a new lesson. They show by default, with an optional Settings switch for experienced users who prefer to start immediately.
- Smoother audio and pacingListen & Shadow and Commute Mode now protect turn-taking, built-in speaker playback uses the normal media route, and successful calls can advance without breaking the flow.
- Reset Practice ProgressClear scores, readiness, Tape Review, and saved practice audio from Settings without changing your airport, aircraft, appearance, or purchase.
